I was in print media in the old school days, before desktop publishing and digital cameras. Back then, the goal was real storytelling by writing compelling and well thought out articles, brought to life by 35mm photos we developed ourselves, before turning it into a masterpiece on paper.
While the digital world has given us great resources and abilities, it's also made us lazier and less creative at times, choosing the "instalike" over substance.
Your vision is refreshing and an ideal we should return to, something my wife and I have also discussed at great length. Instead of just pumping out more digital content that will be irrelevant and lost by algorithms, why not create something people will hopefully love, enjoy, and be inspired by?
I look forward to more of your work and perhaps some day we can meet online or in person so I can hear more about this wonderful vision.
Thanks James for saying that! I thoroughly appreciate it.
It has been so much fun leaning into the long form storytelling aspect of print media. Really excited to bring these stories and articles to people like you, who value the real tactile things I life.
When I set out to create this magazine, my main goal was to create a place for creatives to share their adventures, travels, people they meet, life lessons, etc. Stuff that usually does not get printed in magazines, the real, raw, gritty stuff that makes this world so beautiful. And that is exactly what we are going to do.
I would love to chat more or meet up sometime, shoot me a DM on substack. Thanks for the support!
Everything you say here resonates with my soul.
